Lilith Langtree’s – Chaos Magic

TG Fiction – Nothing is True and Everything is Permitted

Story Collections: Schools

Ever wanted to read a really good story with a specific theme? TG oriented, of course. If you know about some good stories and want to spread the wealth then let me know what they are.

Theme for this one is Schools.

The Center – Transformation, Intrigue – BCTS

Whateley Acadamy – Mutant High – At Crystal Hall

A New Style of Education – SPA Universe Main Story. – At BCTS

Hidden Gifts – SPA Universe a couple of years earlier – At BCTS

The Scholarship – Julie O – A scholarship program with unusual rules. – at BCTS.

Twisted – Morpheus – Virus, Mutants – At Fictionmania

Twisted Pink – Morpheus – Virus, Mutants (companion story) – at Fictionmania

The Academy – Morpheus – Magic – at Fictionmania

Merlin High: The Art of the Duel -Bek D. Corbin – Magic – at Sapphire’s

Merlin High:  Nothing but Trouble – Dr. Bender – Magic – at Sapphire’s

Boy’s School – Sarah Lynn Morgan – CD – BCTS

These are my current favorites with Hidden Gifts being at the top of the pack, in my opinion. There’s something about a school for smart, TG kids where they can be themselves, that is very attractive to me.

New Style is a little too out of character with 12-13 year olds acting and speaking like 16-17 year olds, but it is still a really good story. But there is action and a strong plot going on here, with very likable characters.  Not to mention I wish I could have gone to this school.

And Whateley, well that one pretty much speaks for itself. Ideally I would love for there to be only a small group of kids that the story follows throughout, but it’s more of a team effort. Not my taste, but a lot of people cream over every story released.

Got any that fits this category? I’d love to add them, not to mention read them.

Brandy Dewinter’s Dream Lover also seems to be part of the Whateley universe, yet is not listed at Crystal’s. I highly recommend it, and I got a copy before the geocity sites shut down.

Does anyone know of any decently written ‘School” stories? If not, then I’m gonna have to come up with one of my own. It’s too good of a genre to forgo. Though I’d have to be somewhat original being as the Superhero angle is taken and SPA has a number of ideas that I would normally use, so I don’t want to steal ideas.

I wouldn’t want it to be a clone of either of these. I like a challenge!

I think I’ve read everything of Brandy’s. She was a favorite of mine when I first started reading T-Fic.

On top of those, Morpheus has his Twisted Universe which is basically high school kids, then MORFS of course..there ARE a couple of decent ones there, but some just ran me off cause they were so far away from the original ideas of the universe. Morpheus did also do one called OUTSIDERS which was based on the immortal which you may like…I do.

Bek Corbin Jordan Winters more witchcraft and school. Lisa Grey’s Beautiful Justice story about Keelor. Not school, but a very good magic story, kind of an RPG base.

Morpheus has a couple others if you check his list at FM.

Jackie Pett did a couple with high schoolers that were interesting.

Julie O of course…her classic Scholarship and a couple others.

Can’t forget Tuck of course (high school)

    Morpheus Enter the Darkness

Woggie XX Factor is good, but is a wip 3 chapters so far but good.

Brandy doesn’t allow her stuff to be posted anywhere except her own site. She was pretty viciously attacked over a posting once and withdrew for a long time. If you need a copy of her whateley story I have it with her illustrations.

I should just attach a bunch of stuff to an email instead of making you look for them.

I think you could attack Merlin High or The Academy and do a bangup job in either venue. Morpheus did The Academy, but two authors did the Merlin High stories Bender and Corbin. They would all be open to more students stories I would think.

And how could I forget Wendy J’s Midnight Downloads classic, unfortunately unfinished but wonderful. Maddy Bell has a couple of good ones on her site besides Gaby.

Damn! LOL. Stacy on the rampage! Thank you for all the submissions. I’m aiming for “Schools” that not only permit, but encourage and protect T-girls, and not necessarily stories about students in regular school, so “Tuck” would be out as well as my own “Do it Right…”.

(facepalm)I had forgotten about the Scholarship and the Twisted universe. Good finds! I’ll have to check out the others though, unless you can confirm they fit the criteria (above)though. I might or might not have read them.

Yeah, but it can pretty much stand on its own. That’s why I added it.

You mentioned two of the Twisted stories there is a third – I believe it is called Twisted Again – it features the character from the Twisted Pink story, but is set in the same school as Twisted.

Okay, Merlin High is a bunch of magic users that flip flop sexes regularly and Merlin High is a kid that is allergic to magic and changes sex when he is exposed to it. The problem is he draws enough magic to be one of the strongest sorcerers in recent times.

Enter the Darkness is a mutant that emerges and is hunted by the school kids and others until he gets to a safe school for mutants ala X Men type. Woggies is in the X Men universe.

Wendys Midnight Downloads is a classic, but may not be close enough to criteria.

Lisa’s Beautiful Justice is not close, but I tossed it in cause I liked it a lot. And it does have magic in it, but they are not kids.

Not sure about Bek’s Jordan Winters. Nope.

No for Girl for a Spell either.

There was a recent one about a guy in a boys school that is assigned to help train the other boys for a dance, protected by the teachers, and winds up wearing girls clothes all the time, welcome at the girls school also. Think it was at BCTS, but can’t recall the name and it must be hidden in my folders.

Jackie Pett does not fit either.

Edit the prior. I said Merlin had the allergic kid, but thats The Academy. The school does what it can to protect her from harassment and attacks.

Stacy: You might be referring to Sara Lynn Morgan’s Boy’s School on BCTS.
Excellent read, and belongs on this list.

I’d not gotten around to the SPA stories until I saw this note. I like them, though I share the concern that the kids are acting a bit older than their purported ages. And I still have no idea what SPA stands for, and wonder if there are more stories other than the ones tagged at BCTS.

Miranda, From what I’ve seen, no. I pretty sure I remember reading that those three authors were the only ones that were writing. Since it’s all canon they all have to read and compare it to theirs, edit amongst themselves, back and forth until it takes literally months for anything new to come out. That’s the major draw back for me.

Plus the Hills storyline just don’t do it for me. I still like the concept, and the storyline of the two in Europe, the execution is killing it for me.

Oh, and nobody knows what SPA stands for except for the original author. Seems kind of silly to me, but maybe there is a major plot changing reason for it, and telling would blow something. I try not to second guess author’s reasons for doing things this way.

Thanks, Lilith, I’m glad I’m not the only one missing some of the details. And I agree about the Hills storyline, too. Those characters are too young and too broken for me, I think.

This note has me binging on school stories now, and I’ve read a few of the others, too. Who needs sleep?

Now I’m tempted to try writing one, but I’m pretty sure I’d need to stretch to write longer stories than I have to do it justice. It’s something to think about, anyway.

Miranda, I know what you mean. After reading SPA I went on a quest to find others similar. That’s one of the reasons I started this collection.

Let me know when it comes out or at least put pretty stars on it so I won’t miss it, LOL.

A couple of stories by Samantha Michelle are based on a school called Plainfields. Unfortunately, she appears only to have published the two in this universe, both available at FM and Crystal’s.

    Hi Lilith,

Really enjoying your writing. Two unmentioned storyverses come to mind.

Over on Crystal’s Storysite, Samantha Michelle has a couple stories based at a school called ‘Plainfields’. Storysite doesn’t always seem to have complete sets, so if there are more than the two that are posted there, I’d like to find them.

Also, there are the ‘Season’s House’ petticoat punishment stories by Joel Lawrence(creator), Tigger(popularizer), and a few others.

(and yes, I’m one of those who (im)patiently awaits the weekly Whateley update. 😉 )
